FLOWER CARE
To extend the life of your flowers, cut the stem at a 45° angle and remove any leaves that will be underwater. Place the flowers in cool water in a clean vase. Change the water every other day and give the stems a fresh cut. Be sure to keep them out of the direct sun and away from any heat source.

TUBER CARE
Your tuber is ready to plant when the threat of frost is past (which is rare in OC). Dahlias LOVE the sun so be sure to plant in a spot that gets 6-8 hours of direct sun each day. Place tubers in the ground, bag or pot horizontally with the eye facing up. Cover with 4 inches of moist soil. Do not water until you see green sprouting from the top of the soil and a full set of leaves then water as needed to keep soil moist. Dahlias like well-draining soil. Do not overwater or the tuber will rot. It can take 2-6 weeks for the sprout to break through the surface of the soil and then another 2-3 months before the first bloom appears. Each variety of dahlia is different. Be patient, it’s worth it!
